North shore interpretive station

North Shore
In this spring-fed lake, lives the largest population of Ozark Cavefish in the U.S.   The Ozark Cavefish is on the Endangered Species list.
Ozark Cavefish facts:
  1. The Ozark Cavefish is blind and uses the movement of the water to sense it's prey.
  2. The Ozark Cavefish is often found in cave ecosystems reliant on Gray bats for nutrients.
  3. Careless cave exploration is one of the principle causes of ecosystem disturbance, threatening the Cavefish.
  4. It is dark inside the cave.
